There is much controversy about whom Jesus is. Calvary Baptist Church, Midland, recognizes the authority of the Holy Bible to answer this question. What did Jesus claim about himself? - He came from God: John 8:42
- He came to proclaim inform us of God’s interest in us: Luke 4:43
- He came to demonstrate God’s deliverance Matthew 11:4-6
- He came to provide God’s salvation to us John 10:9
- He came to call us to mission Matthew 28:18-20
We understand that Jesus has a personal interest in each human being, and invites each into a personal relationship with himself. John 10:10 How can you enter that relationship?- You must recognize that a barrier exists between God and yourself, namely, sin.
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, - That sin is not just a barrier, but also has natural consequences.
23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - You must ask Jesus to apply his grace to remove that barrier.
24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. - You must express your faith in Jesus
9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Prayer is how we talk with God. Here is an example of how to pray and enter into a new relationship with Jesus. Lord Jesus, I realize that sin exists as a barrier between you and I, and I ask you to forgive me of my sin, and remove that barrier. I choose a new direction in life, to know you and love you. Please enter my life in all your fullness, and make me your child. Amen. Many of them offer portraits of Jesus that contradict the New Testament. Some have been popularized by various media, and increasingly perplex person trying to answer the question “Who Is Jesus?” If these theories trouble you, I suggest you read “Fabricating Jesus: How Modern Scholars Distort The Gospels”.
